Outdoors

Little Acorns Nursery is set in an idyllic location between Tamworth and Sutton Coldfield. Nestled in rural Drayton Bassett, the Nursery is easily accessed from key commuter routes such as the A38, M6 Toll and M42. Little Acorns is set over 50 acres of land and offers a unique experience compared to any other nursery.  With its own children’s farm, full of a variety of different animals, it’s perfect for our little explorers to interact with.

We believe that children prosper through enriched hands on experiences.  Which is why our little explorers experience fresh air in the countryside and farm every day to help build their confidence and development in a safe and natural environment.

What is Forest School?

At Little Acorns Nursery we offer children the opportunity to take part in Forest School sessions that are based on the practice of the Danish Forest Schools.  We have taken the ideology from this and have adapted it to use in our outdoor area.

WHAT DO THE CHILDREN DO?

Children can investigate, explore and use natural materials promoting your child’s personal, social, emotional and physical abilities. This can be through activities including den building, natural art, nature walks, bug hunts and sensory art.  The children have the opportunity to explore and learn from nature such as picking pumpkins and learning how vegetables grow.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Confidence is enhanced as a result of the freedom, time and space they are given in their learning.

Social skills are developed as they have to share tools and participate in play that helps teach the children to work together as team.

Motivation and concentration improves

Children’s Knowledge and understanding of the world is enhanced as they learn to respect the environment and wildlife. This will help to protect our environment for generations to come.

Physical skills develop, as they refine gross motor movements when they explore the natural materials the woodland has to offer.

Most importantly children have fun! They play, discover new things and get mucky as they explore rain, mud and a variety of new and exciting experiences.
